Inspire Media Academy

Inspire Media AcademyThe Inspire Media Academy has been designed to use football and the media to engage with pupils and improve literacy, communication skills and confidence.

Sessions lasting from 30 minutes to an hour (to fit in with school timetable) are delivered once a week over a ten-week period. Modules on offer include interview techniques, the use of quotes in sports news stories and match reporting. The course concludes with a trip to Chesterfield FC’s Proact Stadium to report on a match!

Schools are invited to sign up to the course which costs £195 per pupil (minimum of 10 pupils per course).

The course has been devised by Nick Johnson, who is a highly experienced freelance journalist & broadcaster.  Nick has written for various national newspapers and magazines in a career spanning nearly 25 years. The author of five books, he also acts as a correspondent for leading news agencies Reuters and Press Association Sport.  Nick’s broadcasting experience includes reporting live on around 750 football matches for Sky Sports, working on the popular Soccer Saturday show. He also acts as Chesterfield FC’s head of media & communications.
