The Trust were delighted to have been invited to Palterton Primary School for their Sports Celebration Evening. It was fantastic to watch an active maths lesson alongside their chickens.

The school were celebrating a ‘Hatrick Of Awards’ scooping the AFPE Quality Mark with Distinction, Youth Sport Trust “Gold” Quality mark and the School Games “Gold” Mark.

Rob Horsley, Headteacher for Palterton said ‘We are proud of having achieved our awards, they are a credit to the commitment from the families, staff, Governors and children at the school. We focus on making ‘being active’ an attractive alternative to sedentary choices. The children take part in sport competitions, festivals, a minimum of 2 hours PE a week and a daily mile. All of this impacts on their academic achievement as well as their mental well being. Our learning in lessons is regularly active resulting in it being more productive and effective, as well as being innovative and stimulating for the children. This is confirmed by the external validation we have received.’

Keith Jackson, Activities Manager for the Community Trust said ‘It was a privilege to be invited the event at Palterton Primary School celebrating the fantastic achievement, its been a fantastic partnership we have with Palterton Primary School and we are really excited about future projects in physical literacy’

It was great to see so many of their ex-pupils coming back too, to help support After School Club Delivery. Pleasure to be working with you Palterton Primary!
